On Sunday, Novemver 12, Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau arrived in the Philippines for the 31st Association of Southeast Asian Nations summit.
Trudeau paid a visit to the Canada-funded non-government women’s health advocacy group Likhaan and made a stop at a Jollibee branch in North Harbor, Tondo, Manila.
According to a Jollibee representative, the Canadian embassy reached out to the company a few days ago to ask if they could include a Jollibee stop in the PM’s itinerary.
Trudeau ordered a Chickenjoy and a strawberry float. “Can I get it to go? I’ll eat it in the car,” he said, and greeted almost everyone in the store.
He is taking selfies with other customers, posed with the staff, and even shared someone’s french fries.
A source mentioned that Trudeau is already familiar with the Jollibee brand and how it’s well-loved by Filipinos. In January 2017, he even visited the Winnipeg Jollibee branch, the chain’s first in Canada.
